This site promises 80% accuracy in identifying the gender of an
author when he/she inserts a sample snippet of text in the window provided. You tell it if it is fiction, nonfiction or a blog entry.
I was identified as male (incorrect). When you provide feedback you get the current success percentage. It was at 69% correct when I did it.

Chemistry news, links, downloads (reactor conversin adn simulatin software), a chemistry search, etc.
The search is nice...type in your key words then click the service/site/database you want to search in.

Full text, online, free.
What more can you ask. This is a heat transfer textbook aimed at engineering undergraduates. Written by John H. Lienhard IV, Professor, University of Houston and John H. Lienhard V, Professor, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Not something I would purchase for my particular library, but worth cataloguing as a "virtual" resource.http://web.mit.edu/lienhard/www/ahtt.html
from the site:
A supplement to every library catalogue on the planet!
"FreeFullText.com provides direct links to over 7000 scholarly periodicals which allow some or all of their online content to be viewed by ANYONE with Internet access for free (though some may require free registration). The issue(s) which are available for free are indicated for each title on the alphabetical periodical lists. The design of this site is optimized for users seeking specific articles for which they already have the citation. If some of the articles you need are not available for free online, you may obtain them for a fee through a document delivery service, such as Pinpoint Documents. If you wish to "search" for articles on a particular topic, please use a bibliographic database such as PubMed. This site does not attempt to list ALL periodicals on the Internet, only those which offer free full-text content. Titles will be removed from this list if they cease to offer any free full-text content."
After a couple of attempts, the XML feed now works.

From a recent Freepint issue.
I am contantly looking for help in marketing and promoting the library. As everyone knows engineers are notious for their lack of library use (compared to chemists -- for example).
While this is not an article on marketing libraries to engineers, it is an article on marketing library services to clients.
Many great topics of relevance to all managment -- including library management. Each topic has a multi page overview. Topics include positioning; the marketing plan; various accounting explainations; economics; business law; finance; statistics; strategy; entrepreneurship....
